This is a trip I used to do every year by car from Geneva
to the summer house in a region at the centre of France called
La Haute Loire which is part of the Massif Central.
It had to be done by bike so 3 of us set off and attempted it
over 2 days. Day one was 110miles long, from Geneva to
Moras en Valoir. Apart from one fall, all was good, with some
hills at the start and then the terrain was quite flat.
On day 2, once you pass the Rhone, the massif central
opens up and you can say goodbye to flatland. Nice long
soft hills, but just one after the other with the highest col
being the Tracol at 1030m. We were happy to finish.
We stayed in a small town called Ste Sigolene and from
there did day trips. One of them took us to the Mt Mezenc
with a col at 1500 with a fantastic view of the cloud we
were in the middle of. Overall, the region is very untouched and offers
incredible rides with soft and hard hills, but there is no flat.
This trip is a year thing, so we'll make sure we get some more pics
next time..
